Let Me Speak

When I sent this broken poem to my writers group, I was a little embarrassed about its poor quality. I didn’t even know if it made sense. But when I heard back from them, they gave positive feedback besides helpful editing. It seemed the piece spoke to them more than some of my polished ones. Well, that was the work of God, then, not mine!

“Maybe it was hard to write because of the depth of emotion,” they said. Probably. Yet I don’t only want to write emotional pieces. I want to write unbiased, solid pieces too. (Somebody, teach me how to balance both in my writing.)

Whatever the case, I’ve decided to share this now. If you are one of the weeping ones today, here’s a hug from me to you. Please lift your eyes and look at the Father. He is good.

Dearest daughter, let Me speak.

Wipe those tearstains off your cheek.

Lift your head and think of Me.

You’re My own. Now listen, please.

Dearest daughter, let Me speak.

I know just how much you tried,

For in Me you did confide.

As you prayed in faith, you hoped,

Waited, dreamed, and sought My will.

I know just how much you tried.

Yes, I know you wonder why

Everything you hold must die.

Lift your eyes and look at Me;

Find the answer in My love.

Yes, I know you wonder why.

I can feel the numbing pain

Seeping through your reeling brain,

As you try to comprehend

That this is My best for you.

I can feel the numbing pain.

Child, I know My plans for you.

For today, just trust I’m true.

Out of brokenness there springs

Hope, and beauty, future joys.

Child, I know My plans for you.
